Since the 1986 World's Fair, Canada Place has become a city landmark. Jutting out into the Harbour like an enormous ocean liner with its roof of billowing sails, this is one of the most recognizable structures in Toronto. Beneath these `sails' (that are made from the same fabric used by NASA for space suits), this complex houses the Vancouver Trade & Exhibition Centre, the Pan Pacific Hotel, a cruise ship terminal, the World Trade Centre office complex and CN IMAX. Stroll the promenade and at its prow, you'll be at the downtown core's most northerly point, one quarter mile out into the water. Virtually at your feet, seaplanes, cargo ships and yachts ply the busy waters and in summer, luxury cruise liners berth alongside - near enough to make you wonder if you could really make the jump and become a stowaway. Here's where to catch the Stanley Park shuttle or hop aboard a 1930 Model A Ford for a city tour. If you've never experienced an IMAX show, here's your chance. IMAX puts you in the picture like no other format can, with wrap around sound and a screen that's as tall as a five-story building creating a picture that's waaaaay above your head. Whether you're climbing mighty mountains, soaring like an eagle or exploring deep space, the movie program changes often but always offers jaw-dropping excitement. Great for the entire family.
